I was in the mall two days ago when a lady walked in, and started sprinkling hand sanitizer around her with every step she took. It was a funny display. “No corona virus for me.” she kept repeating. She was practically pouring the thing around like someone spraying champagne at a party.
While that was going on, someone sneezed nearby. People scampered away, some tripping and falling in the process because of the fear of corona virus (COVID-19)! Smart girl like me, I already maintained a distance of more than three feet from everyone else. A young man yanked out a tube of hand sanitizer, poured a sizeable amount into his palms and started rubbing it on his face, arms and legs like body lotion.
I couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Apparently I wasn’t the only one who noticed because a kind attendant walked up and explained the proper use of hand sanitizer to them. “The hand sanitizer is for you to thoroughly rub your hands not sprinkle or rub all over your body. You are to keep rubbing for about twenty seconds till the sanitizer dries completely. That’s how to kill any germs on your hands so that you don’t mistakenly transfer them to your face. Imagine you’re washing your hands with soap and water, only this time it’s an alcohol-based sanitizer.”
They were slightly embarrassed but extremely grateful!
Fear really makes people do extreme things.
As we navigate these times, it’s important that we get properly informed and stick to facts. This will help us protect ourselves the right way.
Basic protection from Corona Virus (COVID-19)
